Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Second Nature School collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal information about students, parents/guardians, staff, and visitors. The personal information collected is done so under the authority of the Education Act (R.S.O. 1990 c.E2), and in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004, S.O. 2004, c. 3, Sched. A, as amended. It will be used to consult and promote dialogue with key interested participants, and to guide Second Nature in its decision-making process. In addition, the information may be used or disclosed to comply with legislation, for compelling circumstances affecting health and safety, as required in circumstances related to law enforcement matters, or in accordance with any other Act.

Parent & Guardian Information

Second Nature School will collect parent and guardian names, phone numbers, and email addresses to be in contact with parents in the event that the school needs to reach them. In the event that a parent/guardian is unreachable, Second Nature School Staff will communicate with an emergency contact whose information the school will also collect. We collect your information so Second Nature School can communicate important school updates as well as student progress with you.

Ontario Ministry of Education

Second Nature School will exchange personal information with the Ontario Ministry of Education in order to assign, update and validate the Ontario Education Number and the personal information associated with them.

Clinic Staff Consultation

In some cases, school staff will consult with Clinic Staff. This includes a paraprofessional support group of play-therapists, speech-language therapists, psychologists, registered psychotherapists, and occupational therapists. Second Nature School will take counsel from Second Nature Clinic staff for best practice and strategic evidence of impact related to neurodivergent learners.

Jane App

This information is protected through the Jane App. Jane is a service provider to Second Nature Clinic. Jane stores Patient Data in its secure data centers and makes it available to Second Nature School and their clinicians through the clinic management platform. Therefore, except in relation to Patient Authentication Information, Jane otherwise has no control over Patient Data.

Storypark

Student work and activities are shared via Storypark. Storypark personal data is uploaded and transferred by Second Nature School Staff. Storypark collects personal data about persons (including children) indirectly when Second Nature School Administrators and Educators use the Service, for example, when an Account Holder creates a Child Record or Educator Portfolio, or uploads and transfers content that contains personal data of another person.

Third-Party Services

Limited personal data may be provided to companies who offer software inclusion services (e.g. converting an image or video to make it suitable for online viewing). Third parties located overseas are not permitted to, and are contractually obligated not to, access or use the personal data provided except for those limited purposes. Storypark only chooses reputable service providers.
